Port Elizabeth or The Bay, is one of the largest cities in South Africa, situated in the Eastern Cape Province, 770 km (478 mi) east of Cape Town. The city, often shortened to PE and nicknamed "The Friendly City" or "The Windy City", stretches for 16 km along Algoa Bay, and is one of the major seaports in South Africa. Port Elizabeth is the southernmost city on the African continent.

Port Elizabeth has often been mentioned as South Arica’s capital of Art Nouveau style architecture. Due to the influence of the European settlers who arrived in the early 1800s, many buildings have detailedstonework, wrought iron and stained glass as can be seen in many areas in Central even to this day.
Houses of worship, in particular, display a fascinating attention to detail with combinations of high roofs, steep spires, large stained glass windows and an incredibly precisely cut masonry.
Port Elizabeth also has its fair share ofCape Dutch style architecture as well as Victorian and Edwardian styles.
